This is especially the case today. Here\u2019s a good example written by <a href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/@stevenspatz4\/you-need-to-have-a-pre-sale-period-for-your-book-heres-why-12a23d7cef10\" target=\"_blank\">Steven Spatz on Medium<\/a> about the opportunities you can capture pre-selling your books.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<h3>\n            Crowdfunding:    <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>These sites, such as Kickstarter\/Indiegogo, love this feature as well. The money collected well ahead helps bring creative projects to life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example, <a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/313122307\">HUDWAY <\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/313122307\" target=\"_blank\">Drive<\/a>, a portable head-up display for any car, has already raised $181,968 which exceeded the goal by 126%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another funny invention (a trendy one!) is a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kickstarter.com\/projects\/frankyeh\/carmaskeeper-a-better-way-to-keep-your-masks?ref=discovery&amp;term=cars\" target=\"_blank\">CarMaskKeeper<\/a> allowing you to store your face masks in a hygienic, fast and secure way. They\u2019ve already collected $5,900, more to come.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<a class=\"anchor\" id=\"effectiveness\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/a><h2>\n            2. But the number may vary based on the industry you are in.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For less popular niches and products, the percentage is a bit lower \u2014&nbsp;somewhere <strong>around 15-18%<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The same research shows that <strong>over 50%<\/strong> of pre-order visitors are new visitors to the website, which could be a perfect opportunity to capture emails \u2014 you\u2019ll be able to follow-up with your potential customers even if they don\u2019t convert right off the bat.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s a great example from Task Pigeon (a task management tool). They ran an experiment to see if they could get people to pay for their product before they even started to build it.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"gb-emph\">\n\n<p><strong>TL;DR:&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Task Pigeon did an email outreach with a discount offer trying to convince users to try their tool and pay in advance. The experiment was a success \u2014 the next day Paul Towers, the founder, woke up to find an order for 8 licenses (Wohoo!). Although this didn&#8217;t translate into sales, they received an invaluable experience running a pre-order campaign with no money down and proved the fact the strategy does work.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\n<a class=\"anchor\" id=\"benefits\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/a><h2>\n            3. Should I go ahead &amp; try this strategy for my business?
